In response to the growing demand for family visits, Canada has launched an innovative program to simplify and streamline the process. Introduced on December 1st, 2011, the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa offers an extended stay option for visiting family members. With the Super Visa, you gain access to Canada for 10 years without the need for visa renewals, allowing stays of up to 24 months at a time. This initiative offers the convenience of avoiding repetitive immigration procedures, offering a smoother experience for Super Visa holders.
A key benefit of the Super Visa is the elimination of the need for frequent immigration document renewals within the 10-year timeframe. This not only benefits visitors but also enhances efficiency within the Canadian immigration system. By reducing administrative tasks, resources can be allocated more effectively, minimizing wait times for other applicants. While the Super Visa is designed to facilitate the travel of parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, it does not extend to dependents. However, spouses or common-law partners may apply under this program to accompany the primary applicant.
SUPER VISA REQUIREMENTS:
- Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- Not be inadmissible to Canada for any reason, criminal or otherwise
